Mother and son beaten in paramilitary attack
A mother and her son have been beaten in an overnight paramilitary attack in west Belfast.
A husband, wife, son and their daughter were in a house in Rock Grove when three masked men entered the house around 8.30pm on Monday May 13.
Two of the men went upstairs and assaulted the mother and son while one masked man remained downstairs. The son was beaten with a hammer and a baton, and sustained injuries to his arms, legs and back. He also received a wound to his head which required medical attention. When the man’s mother tried to come to his aid, she was also assaulted. She received injuries to her legs, arms and back and a cut to her head which also required medical treatment.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man was beaten in a paramilitary style attack in County Londonderry this morning.
Just after midnight the man was approached from behind, hit on the head and then beaten by six masked men with iron bars in Garvagh Court.
The man was taken to hospital with two broke arms, suspected fractures to his right leg and ankle and bruising to his head and body.
Police in the waterside area are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Pair found guilty over Father's Day killing

Police appeal following weekend attacks
Police have appealed for information following two separate attacks at the weekend. In Co Tyrone a teenager was abducted and beaten by four masked men at around 5.30pm on Saturday. The victim was walking along Woodview Crescent in Trillick when he was set upon by the men.

Co Antrim Man Found Dead In Ibiza Sustained Head Injuries
A County Antrim man found dead in a hotel room in Ibiza sustained head injuries, according to Ireland's expert State Pathologist. Alan Drennan, 21, was found dead just 24 hours after arriving in Ibiza. Mr Drennan was detained by Spanish police when he arrived on the holiday island, and friends claim that he was attacked by the police.

Nurse Severely Beaten By Deranged Patient
It has just been revealed that a Londonderry nurse has been treated in hospital after receiving a severe beating at the hands of a patient she was caring for. The incident, which happened earlier this month, began at Strand Road police station in Derry. Police officers detained a man in an agitated state.
