Aldergrove strike over pay resumes

The strike by security staff at Belfast International Airport over pay and working conditions has resumed.

Staff went on strike last Wednesday but called off further action following fresh negotiations between their employers, aviation security firm ICTS, and union officials.

Two days of talks over the pay dispute involving security staff at the airport took place at the Labour Relations Agency after the stoppage. However the strike was resumed on Tuesday May 14 following unsatisfactory negotiations.

There was a stoppage from 4am to 8am on Tuesday morning and security staff were expected to strike again at 6pm on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for Belfast International Airport management said that every effort was being made to ensure adequate security measures on flights and appealed for passengers to check in 30 minutes earlier than normal to facilitate any temporary security arrangements.
