Derry Sex Attacker Jailed
A judge has branded as "shocking" the details of a sex attack on a drunk, underage girl in Londonderry.
Placing Jamie Duddy on the sex offenders' register for seven years and putting him on probation for three years as well as jailing him for four months, Judge Desmond Marrinan told Duddy his actions were calculated, shocking and opportunistic.
The 18-year-old sexually assaulted his 12-year-old victim after he carried her home while she was drunk last March.
The court heard that she had then been found wandering in the street outside her family home.
She was still drunk and was naked apart from wearing socks and trainers.
Judge Marrian contnued: "You knew she was very young. Although you did not get her the alcohol, you knew she was hopelessly drunk and you took the opportunity to go upstairs with her and have sex with her."
Sentencing Duddy, he also took into consideration that Duddy had pleaded guilty and had spared his victim the ordeal of giving evidence in a trial.
Duddy was obliged to move from the Waterside in Londonderry for his own safety after the incident.
