Attempts made to recover body of local climber

Attempts are being made to recover the body of a local man who died while on a climbing expedition in the Himalayas.

Adam Joseph Cinnamond, 34, from Banbridge in County Down, was an experienced climber who had also visited ranges in Bolivia and the Alps.

He was with three others climbers on a seven-week expedition in northern Nepal, where they aimed to scale Mount Cho-Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world. However, six days ago, Adam went missing on his return down the mountain after deciding not to attempt the summit, and his body was subsequently found on Friday by one of his climbing partners.

While it is often difficult for bodies to be recovered from the Himalayas, an international mountain rescue team are currently in the location and are making efforts to secure the body, which will then be taken to the capital of Nepal, Katmandu, before the onward journey home to Northern Ireland.
