Belfast 'Device' Find Investigated
The Army was this afternoon examining a suspicious object in north Belfast.
It was found by construction workers on the roof of a building in Greencastle with the adjacent Shore Road (A2) closed due to the ongoing security operation.
Meanwhile, after a small device detonated in south Belfast last night, the remains were removed by the bomb disposal squad and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
The blast occured in an alleyway off the Ormeau Road. It is believed the device went off at around 10pm.
No one was injured but Army bomb experts were called to the scene.
Initial inquiries by the team suggested there had been a small explosion in the Rutland Street alley, caused by a device.
No damage to nearby properties has been reported.
Police in the area have appealed for information.
Meanwhile, 14 Portrush residents were evacuated from their homes last night as police investigated two suspicious objects in the Dhu Varren housing estate.
Officers are still examining the objects, where were found at Glendrum Close

A suspicious object found in Co Antrim has been declared a hoax. The discovery was made in the Cushendall Road area in Ballymena on Tuesday, 18 July. Police and Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene and the object caws declared a hoax. The area was sealed off, however it has since been reopened.

Security Alert Underway In Belfast
A security alert is currently underway in Belfast. It is understood there have been reports of a suspicious object found in the Tates Avenue area of the city. As a result, the road has been closed between Boucher Road roundabout and Lorne Street. Police and army bomb experts are in attendance at the scene. No other details have been released.

Pipe Bomb Found In East Belfast
A pipe bomb has been found in east Belfast overnight. A suspicious object was reported to police in Island Street at around 1.40am on Thursday. A security operation was launched and army bomb experts found declared it to be a viable bomb-type device. No homes were evacuated during the alert and the operation ended shortly before 6am.
