Dunnes To Make 60 Managers Redundant

Dunnes Stores is seeking 60 voluntary redundancies from its management staff.

Reports this afternoon suggest the voluntary redundancies will be sought across the ranks, including store managers, assistant managers and department managers.

Management employees have been offered two weeks statutory redundancy for every year they have served in management, while there will also be a cutting back of hours for all staff in its 130 stores nationwide.

Working hours could be cut back by up to 10%.

Dunnes has been reeling in the economic downturn of late, and although buoyed by speculation of a takeover by Asda, the rise of Aldi and Lidl has affected its market share.
