Teen Accused Of Attempting To Murder Mum
A 19-year-old Belfast man has been remanded in custody accused of attempting to kill his mother and another relative.
Robert Brown, of Gotha Street, appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday charged with stabbing 38-year-old Joanne Brown and Stephen Brown, 21. The attack happened at Hyndford Street off the Beersbridge Road.
The injured pair were later taken to hospital and treated for stomach and chest wounds.
In court yesterday, a detective constable opposed bail for the teenage.
However, defence lawyer Mark Campbell said no application was being made at this stage.
Mr Campbell said: "The issue is to find somewhere suitable for Mr Brown to reside."
Mr Brown's defence team said it was liaising with social services with a view to police lifting their objections.
The accused was remanded in custody to appear again by video-link later this week.
