Irvine's Dublin Party Haunt To Close

A trendy Dublin bar - owned by Co Down-born F1 ace Eddie Irvine - is to close.

It has been revealed that Cocoon bar - a favourite city centre hangout for celebrities and models - is believed to have accumulated substantial financial losses.

The last figures filed by the firm, in 2006, under the name Calview Investments, showed a €1m short fall in revenue.

A €2m loan had also been taken out by the holding company for an associated operation, Frameway Leisure.

Playboy race driver Irvine had been know to fly-in international models and movie stars to party at the Royal Hibernian Way hot-spot.

The Dawson Street venue's manager said: "That's correct", when asked about the decision to close.
