Taser On Shankill

Police have used a Taser during early morning trouble in Belfast's Shankill Road area. The stun gun was used on a 19-year-old man who is understood to have been examined in hospital and then returned to police custody. Officers were called to the scene of a disturbance in the Manor Street area shortly after 3amon Saturday. Police said as they tried to separate gangs an attempt was made to attack officers and a warning was given that a stun gun would be used.

Paramilitary Shooting In Lurgan

A teenager has been injured in a paramilitary-style shooting in Lurgan. It happened in the Meadowbrook area of the County Armagh town on Saturday night. The 18-year-old male returned home to find an gang of unknown men waiting for him. They beat him with hurley sticks and shot him in the right leg.

Spain Shooting Victim Was Irish

The victim of a fatal weekend shooting in Spain's Costa del Sol has been identified as a 30-year-old Irish man. He was shot in the street several times on the main costal road as it leaves the popular tourist area of Benalmádena Costa, a few miles from the city of Málaga. It happened in the Avenida del Sol at 11.30pm on Saturday night, and the national police has opened a full investigation. A passer-by saw the body on the ground, by the supermarket close to the busy Torrequebrada casino, which overlooks the sea. The victim, named as Richard Keogh, was shot by an individual who arrived in a car, carried out the shooting and then drove off in the same vehicle, according to a taxi driver witness. Good News For Derry Engineering Firm

Maydown Precision Engineering in Londonderry is to supply components for two major Airbus programmes with help from Invest Northern Ireland. The contracts are for the successful Airbus 330 series commercial jet and for the new Airbus 400M heavy-lift transport aircraft and are the first the Northern Ireland company has secured for the aircraft manufacturer. Maydown will provide the precision engineered components to established Airbus partners in Finland, Spain and the UK. The company, which is part-owned by Bombardier-Shorts in Belfast, supplies components to most Bombardier aircraft programmes. It has been assisted to develop contacts with Airbus suppliers through our involvement in Invest NI's aerospace trade development initiative, our participation in a number of air shows, and by Invest NI's Trade team based in Düsseldorf.

Cigs Taken

Anyone who witnessed the robbery of a large quantity of cigarettes in south Belfast at the weekend has been asked to contact the police. The cigarettes were stolen in an armed robbery in the Stranmillis area. It happened after two males threatened a delivery driver with a wheel brace outside a convenience store shortly before 11.30am on Saturday. They then made off in a dark blue coloured car into nearby Chlorine Gardens and then in the direction of the Lisburn Road.

Cookstown Goes High-Tech

A £29,000 contract has been agreed to establish a broadband access network in Cookstown, the Communications Minister has confirmed. The work will be undertaken by Co Londonderry firm North West Electronics using the latest fibre-optic technology. Minister Arlene Foster said the scheme would ensure high-speed wireless broadband for Kilcronagh Business Park.

Man appears in court following soldier shooting
A man has been charged with murder following the shooting of a soldier in Co Londonderry at the weekend. The 21-year-old soldier was killed following an incident inside Shackleton Barracks, in Ballykelly. Police are currently investigation the circumstances of the death which occurred at around 8.30pm on Saturday.

PSNI Appeal For Information About West Belfast Shooting
The PSNI have appeal for witnesses to or any one with any information about a shooting incident in west Belfast on Wednesday night. A man was shot in the leg at Creeslough Gardens at around 21:30 on Wednesday night. It is understood that victim is in his 40s and his injuries are not life threatening.

Man Arrested Over Paramilitary-Style Shooting In L'Derry
A man has been arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style shooting in Co L'Derry. A 33-year-old man was shot in the legs and abdomen in the Lisfannon Park area on Tuesday, 08 August. Police described the assault as "brutal and horrific". The 43-year-old suspect was detained in L'Derry on Tuesday, 15 August.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Investigation Underway After Man Shot In Both Legs
The PSNI have launched an investigation after a man was shot in both legs at Bog Meadows in the St James area of west Belfast. Police say the shooting happened at about 20:00 on Monday. The victim is being treated at Royal Victoria Hospital, where his condition is described as stable. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
