Two More Deny Loyalist Murder Charges
The latest two men to be charged with the murder of a leading loyalist paramilitary have pleaded not guilty.
Tommy English was shot dead in his Ballyduff Estate home in October 2000. Six other men have already been charged in relation to the assassination, including incarcerated UVF member Mark Haddock.
Today, 32-year-old Alexander Wood of Milewater Way, Newtownabbey and 33-year-old Jason Loughlin of Ballyvessey Park in the town, appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court charged with Mr English's murder.
Mr Wood was also charged with Ulster Volunteer Force membership.
A detective told the court he believed he could connect the accused to the charges.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the murder.
The court heard that there still wasn't any forensic evidence to link the accused to the crime.
A lawyer for Mr Loughlin said he strenuously denied the charges.
Mr Wood's representation said his client had been questioned about the killing eight years ago and "denied involvement then and now".
Forty-year-old father of three, Mr English, had been a member of the UDP's Stormont talks team prior to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
He was murdered amid a vicious loyalist turf was, which saw a number of high-profile paramilitaries gunned-down by rival groups.

Simon Tang: Second Murder Charge Withdrawn
A second murder charge over the killing of Chinese restaurateur Simon Tang in 1996 has been withdrawn. Belfast Magistrates' Court has heard the case against Paul Allen will not proceed. Mr Allen, 39, of Drumhoy Drive, Carrickfergus, faced charges over the murder of Simon Tang. Mr Tang was a married father of two.

Court told of UDA feuding
Inter-factional feuding among loyalist paramilitaries has led to five men appearing in court on serious charges, including attempted murder. Monday’s court appearances followed large-scale weekend trouble in Carrickfergus when Ulster Defence Association (UDA) supporters are said to have tried to kill the alleged leader of a rival faction.

Two remanded on attempted murder charges
Two men have appeared today in court charged with the attempted murder of a boy under the age of 14 in County Antrim. Both men who are in their 30s with addresses in Londonderry have been remanded in custody.
