Local businesses help fight against cancer
A well-matched partnership between local cancer charity, Action Cancer, leading IT services provider, Sx3 and PR consultancy Morrow Communications has resulted in an accolade at this year's NICVA/Camelot Link Awards.
In recognition of its support and promotion of the 'Action Man' campaign Sx3 was presented the top accolade in the province's annual Charity Oscars, held in the Europa Hotel Wednesday May 29.
Sx3's sponsorship and on-going support of the campaign has led to widespread acclaim for its efforts to reduce the number of deaths from testicular and prostate cancers - two of the last taboo subjects in health education.
Thanks to Sx3's support (both financial, technical and advisory), Action Cancer recently ran an extensive advertising and promotional campaign. The outcome exceeded all targets set by the charity, with over 500 men contacting the Action Cancer helpline, over 100 visiting clinics, and another 96 being signposted to their GP. The charity also recorded more than 36,000 hits on its website during the month of the campaign, and raised £250,000 for funds.
Endorsing Sx3's involvement, Joe Braden, fundraising director of Action Cancer said: "Without the support of this forward thinking, dynamic company we could not have realised the ambition of breaking down men's health barriers. Sx3 is helping us save lives. This is the greatest endorsement of corporate responsibility possible."
