Fire at business premises being treated as malicious
A fire has completely destroyed unoccupied business premises in Londonderry.
The blaze was discovered just before 12am on Sunday and is being treated as malicious by police.
The fire was discovered at the business premises, a former furniture warehouse, on North Edward Street in the Strand Road area of the city.
Local fire service teams stayed at the scene throughout the night to prevent the building going on fire again.
Motorists were being advised to avoid the area while the damage to the building was being assessed.

Police Appeal Following Burglary In Ahoghill
Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a burglary in Ahoghill on Tuesday, 12th November. Police received a report that the back door of a house on the Ballymena Road was forced open shortly before 6pm.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.
