Construction conference to tackle international change

An international conference is to bring together leading figures in the sector of construction change in an event that will provide a global focus for clients, construction firms and research organisations seeking to obtain better value from the industry.

"Revaluing Construction – the International Agenda" will take place in Manchester in February of next year, and stems from an international review carried out for the Construction Industry Board (CIB) which showed that while local regulations and customs may determine the details of construction practice, the same underlying programmes exist in many countries.

The conference aims to bring international experience to bear on such issues as how to achieve best value from construction expenditure; the defensible alternative to taking the lowest tender; how to manage risk and maximise value over the whole design-construct-operate cycle; and how to create an industry valued by society and attractive to employees.

Speakers will include senior policymakers, leaders of firms handling the challenges of the new construction environment, and prominent academics. Workshops will also enable participants to explore international experience on key themes in more depth.
