Policeman escapes injury in car explosion
An off duty police officer has narrowly escaped injury following an explosion at his car today in County Antrim.
The police said the incident happened at 2.40pm this afternoon at the police officer’s home in Dunclug Park, Ballymena.
The area has been sealed off and army Technical officers are examining the scene.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Car bomb made safe in south Belfast
Army technical officers have carried out a controlled explosion on a bomb left in a car in south Belfast. The car, a red Peugeot 406, was left abandoned on the Blacks Road near Dunmurray some time after 7.20am this morning. The vehicle had been hijacked near Old Golf Course Road around half an hour beforehand.

Colin Horner Murder: Man Arrested
A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Horner. Mr Horner, 35, was fatally shot in front of his young son in a supermarket car park on Sunday, 28 May. The man was arrested in the Newtownards area on Friday, 16 June. He has been taken to Musgrave Police station for questioning.

Armed Robber Dresses As Police Officer
Police are searching for two men in connection with the attempted armed robbery of a shop in Co Armagh. Police said that one of the men who attempted to rob the shop on West Street, Portadown, was dressed as a policeman. It is understood two men entered the shop at about 10am on Thursday, one of them was carrying a suspected firearm.

Officers were lured to the area by reports that a suspect device had been left at Wattle Bridge on Saturday evening, 17 August.
