NIE proposes five year price freeze
Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) has proposed a five year price freeze and has announced a further £250 million investment in the local network and customer services.
The NIE proposal would ensure that network costs and charges in the Northern Ireland remain similar to companies in comparable regions such as Northern Scotland and South Wales, while enabling NIE to maintain the staff numbers and service network necessary to maintain customer standards and the ability to respond effectively to a major event such as a severe storm.
Since 1992, NIE has invested £650 million in its infrastructure, while – according to the company – cutting its proportion of the typical domestic electricity bill by 41% through efficiency savings that have been passed to customers.
