Teenage boy beaten by gang in his own bedroom
A 15-year-old boy has been treated for a broken leg and suspected broken arm after he was beaten in an attack at his County Down home.
The teenager was in the bedroom of his house in the Johnston Park area of Carrowdore when three men forced their way in shortly before midnight last night and beat him with baseball bats.
The PSNI District Commander for Newtownards Judith Gillespie said the attack amounted to child abuse.
Speaking on local radio she said: “In any sort of civilised society this type of attack would be called child abuse.”
Police in Newtownards have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man has been shot in the ankles in a paramilitary style shooting. The incident happened in the Glenalina Crescent area of Ballymurphy in west Belfast shortly after midnight.

Two Men Released Over Portrush Assault
Two men arrested over an assault at a house in Portrush on New Year's Day have been released on bail. The attack happened just before 3am in the Dhu Varren Park area. A 44-year-old man was left with a suspected broken arm and a 69-year-old male was treated in hospital for cuts to his head.

Pair found guilty over Father's Day killing
The wife of County Armagh man Paul Crymble, who was killed almost three years ago, and her lover, have been found guilty of his murder. Jacqueline Crymble, 35 and Roger Ferguson, aged 21, were found guilty of killing the 35-year-old from Richill.

The PSNI have issued an appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of following a shooting incident in the Woodvale Park area of Bushmills last night, Wednesday 11th May. Shortly after 11.10pm it was reported that a number of masked men entered a house armed with a gun and "wooden weapons".

Two People Attacked In Co Down
A man, aged in his 20s, has been injured after he was assaulted by a number of masked men in Killyleagh, Co Down. The attack happened at a house on Irish Street at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, 28 February. Four masked men broke into the house and attacked two men with sticks.

Man beaten with broken bottles
A man was recovering at home today after being assaulted in west Belfast early this morning. The 22-year-old was walking along the junction of the Springfield Road and Whiterock Road when he was attacked by two men. The victim was initially knocked to the ground after being hit on the back of the head with a bottle.
