Kidnap-Robbery Scene Revisited

Police are continuing to probe the latest of Northern Ireland's so-called 'Tiger Kidnap' robberies, where a loved one is held hostage to force the victim to hand over property or money.

The scene of an aggravated robbery near Lisburn, in which a man and woman were tied up, has been revisited by the PSNI who today reiterated what happened last week.

"At around 6.45am last Thursday (November 6th), two men wearing balaclavas - one of whom was armed with a gun - entered a house at Ballymacash and made demands on the victims, before tying them up.

"The woman was driven away in a silver Ford Focus and the man was forced to obtain a large quantity of cigarettes from a warehouse at Nutt's Corner," said the police statement last night.

The detectives investigating the case said that the cigarettes were later transferred to a large vehicle on vacant ground at the Moira Road.

The unfortunate female kidnap victim was later freed in the Shankill area of west Belfast.

The police statement continued: "The victims were not physically hurt but police say they were left very shocked by their ordeal."
