Fermanagh Driver Killed On Republic's Roads

As Belfast comes to terms with the shocking death of a teenage girl in Belfast - knocked down and trapped by a bus in Royal Avenue at teatime last night - the driver from Northern Ireland who died in a car crash across the border has been named.

The fatality was in Co Monaghan and followed an accident on the N54 before lunchtime yesterday.

Garda reported that a lorry and a van were involved in the collision.

The van driver - Michael Manley, from the Roslea area of Co Fermanagh - was killed and the lorry driver and his passenger were taken to Cavan General Hospital where they were treated for shock.

The fatality comes just days after another man died in a car accident just across the border, at Carndonagh, Co Donegal.

That crash happened at Kelly's Corner at around midnight on Sunday. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The 27-year-old was taken to Altnagelvin hospital in Londonderry, but died on Tuesday.

It is the fourth road death in Co Donegal in the days - three people were also killed in a two-car crash in south Donegal on Sunday morning.
