Post Early For Christmas
Royal Mail is reminding customers to make a note of this year's latest recommended posting dates for Christmas mail.
All mail within the UK must be sent by Saturday, 20 December for 1st Class mail; Thursday, 18 December for 2nd Class mail and by Tuesday, 23 December for Special Delivery items. When posting to international destinations the dates to remember are Friday, 5 December for mail to South & Central America, Caribbean, Africa, Middle East, Far East, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.
Also look out for Wednesday, 10 December for mail to Eastern Europe, USA, Canada and Japan and for Friday, 12 December for mail to Western Europe.
To help ensure festive greetings and presents arrive safely and on time, senders should remember to write the address clearly and correctly, use the postcode,
www.royalmail.com/postcodes include a return address, ensure the items are properly wrapped and affix the correct postage.

Mail Reaches Festive Peak
Royal Mail in Northern Ireland has laid on four additional daily flights and boosted its normal 1,000-strong vehicle fleet with 137 extra vans and trucks to cope with the Christmas demand. It has also provided seasonal employment to a further 340 people who are helping out with the Christmas operation.

A staggering two billion cards, letters and parcels will be handled by Royal Mail during December, with 50 million of these in Northern Ireland alone. By following some simple steps customers can ease the workload for their local postmen and women and speed their card or gift on its way.

NI To Get First Gold Post Boxes
Royal Mail has backed down in the face of public pressure and agreed to paint three post boxes gold in Northern Ireland. It had previously said that the hometowns of Team Ireland athletes would not benefit from the honour, as it was intended for Team GB athletes only.
