Three Halls Attacked By Arsonists In Co Tyrone
Deliberate arson attacks on premises in different parts of Northern Ireland have resulted in one of the premises, a cricket clubhouse, being so badly damaged that it is likely to have to be demolished. Fire crews were called to tackle the fire at Burndennett Cricket Club outside Strabane early on Saturday.
Fire Service District Commander William Lynch said the fire "involved an oil tank, which then spread to the roof".
Meanwhile, two Orange halls have been damaged in weekend attacks - also in Co Tyrone - the Orange Order has said.
The front door of a hall in the Ballinderry/Bridge Road area of Coagh, near Cookstown, was forced open early on Sunday and a fire set inside.
Chainsaws were used to cut through the door of another hall in Mulnagore, outside Pomeroy.
It has also emerged that a fire on Friday in Belfast was arson.
The house on the Upper Malone Road in south Belfast was extensively damaged in the fire which started at about 7.30pm.
No-one was in the house at the time, but the police said neighbours had to be moved for a short time as a precautionary measure.
