Yahoo! Major Internet Provider Opens Dublin Office
Yahoo! Europe has announced it has opened a second 'Inside Sales Organisation' (ISO) in Dublin, employing 15 people.
The office will be dedicated to the promotion of internet advertising for leading medium-sized businesses and advertising agencies across Europe.
Rick Kelley, Commercial Director of the department for Yahoo! Europe, who also heads the other European office in Barcelona said: "We are very pleased to be announcing the new office which will exist alongside our hugely successful Barcelona team.
"This growth showcases Yahoo! Europe’s strong competitive position and allows us to capitalise on recent direct response investment which Yahoo! has made including the Bluelithium and Right Media Exchange."
The move follows in the footsteps of some of the largest companies on the internet.
In October, Tanaiste Mary Coughlan announced that Ireland was to become the centre of social networking juggernaught Facebook's international operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The Facebook office will also be located in Dublin and will employ over 70 people. Ireland is also home to offices for Ebay and internet giant, Google.
Although Ireland's low corporation tax is thought to be a major reason for the presence of these large American firms, Facebook's Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, told an Irish newspaper that one of the main attractions of Dublin was the top-class services and workforce available in the area.
"The talent pool in Dublin is world-class and recruiting local talent will help us better understand the needs of local users and the regional dynamics that, in turn, can give us better insight into what features matter most," he said.
