Lady Dufferin's Yoghurt Signed Up By Tesco
An NI supplier who is a little more exclusive than usual has announced a 'fresh' contract with supermarket multiple, Tesco.
The retailer is to stock the award-winning Clandeboye Yoghurt in 14 of its key Tesco stores across the Province.
The 'fresh' idea for the yoghurt came from the historic Co Down Clandeboye Estate where orward-thinking owner Lady Dufferin, has been determined to 'add value' to the plentiful supply of quality milk produced by her own cows.
She said: "Tesco's agreement to stock the range is a fantastic boost to Clandeboye and we hope that customers will be delighted to see Northern Irish yoghurt on their shelves.
"Cows have always been a central part of Clandeboye - we've worked hard to create a small, but perfect, herd that would be fundamental to the commercial success of the estate in the long term.
"The niche in the market for high quality locally produced yoghurt gave us the confidence to pursue our business idea."
Launched at this year's Balmoral Show, Clandeboye's Natural and Greek style yoghurts are said to be 'handmade' in the traditional way from the milk produced by the Estate's top pedigree herd of Holstein and Jersey cows.
Commenting, Tesco Buyer Sandra Weir (pictured here with Lady Dufferin and a production 'worker') said: "We are delighted to be the first multiple to list this unique local product because being able to help a small local supplier move to the next level is very important to us at Tesco.
"This is an example of the very natural high quality yoghurt from an award-winning herd, and the Tesco team are very excited working with Clandeboye Estate to bring the process to fruition.
"This inclusion of this local yoghurt in our stores supports our ongoing 'Taste Northern Ireland' campaign, highlighting our commitment to supporting the very best local produce.
