Female body washed ashore in County Donegal
A body has been found close to where a German tourist disappeared in County Donegal eight days ago.
It is believed the female body is that of missing 22-year-old German backpacker Constanze Czerwinske.
The body was washed ashore late this afternoon near Glen Head, beside Glencolmcille where the young woman was last seen.
Her family are currently on route to Donegal from Germany to make a formal identification. They are expected to arrive tomorrow.
The body, Gardaí confirmed, will be transported to Letterkenny General Hospital tonight in order for an autopsy to be carried out.
Constance was reported missing eight days ago when she failed to return to her hostel in Glencolmcille after setting out for a walk.
Gardaí officers, mountain rescue teams and a police Water Unit were involved in the search for the young German tourist.
It was feared the young German woman could have fallen and been swept out to sea.
She was seen heading towards an area known as Glen Head, which has a spectacular view of the surrounding cliffs and ocean.
The owner of the hostel raised the alarm on Wednesday morning after she failed to return.
