Business leaders help budding entrepreneurs
Tomorrow’s businessmen and women from Castle High School in north Belfast had the opportunity to fine-tune their entrepreneurial skills during a day-long Sentinus Business Insight Conference held at the school.
Business leaders from across Belfast joined Year 10 and 11 pupils to provide them with their expert advice on being successful in business. Those who attended included Bernard Madden of Glendinning House, Catherine McGeady of CITB and Jackie Elliott and Linda McCorry of Belfast City Airport.
Principal of Castle High School, Mr Bill McGaffin, said: “The Sentinus Business Insight Conference is designed to be highly participative. During the day the pupils, who are divided into groups of eight, are brought through the day-to-day concerns of running a small business including research, promotional strategies and investment.
“The conference has been a perfect opportunity for the pupils from the school to nurture their entrepreneurial skills. It was a great opportunity for them to learn about themselves and consider whether or not they would be interested in setting up their own business."
The conference aimed to increase the level of understanding amongst young people about self-employment and enterprise and is just one of the many business events organised by the school during the year.
