Facebook Opens Dublin Site
Facebook, the popular social networking website, is reported to have chosen Dublin as the location for its European headquarters.
The company is said to be initially planning to recruit a small number of staff for the office, but expects to expand the operation in the future.
Facebook has around 100 million active users across the world, and is thought to be worth $8 billion according to a recent valuation.
The company has been surrounded in speculation of a take-over, but the company's chief, Harvard dropout Mark Zuckerberg who is known as "the youngest billionaire on earth and possibly the youngest self-made billionaire ever" has refused all approaches.
There are also rumours abounding that a film may be made of the origins of the site, which has controversial beginnings including claims of copyright breach and intellectual property quibbles.
Several other leading Internet companies already have European bases in Dublin, including Google, eBay and Amazon.
