Body identified as missing German backpacker

Irish police have confirmed that the body of a woman washed ashore in County Donegal is that of missing German tourist Constancze Czerwinske.

The 22-year-old’s family flew into Donegal yesterday and formally identified her body in Letterkenny General Hospital.

The young woman’s body was found washed ashore on Tuesday afternoon at Glen Head, beside Glencolmcille by a search team.

Constancze was reported missing when she failed to return to her hostel in Glencolmcille after setting out for a walk around 6.45pm on Tuesday 18 June.

The owner of the hostel raised the alarm the next morning after she failed to return.

Gardaí officers, mountain rescue teams and a police Water Unit were involved in the eight-day search for the young German tourist.
