Regional recognition for NI in Master Builder awards
John McAuley Construction of Limavady are just one of the three regional winners of this year’s Master Builder of the Year competition for the Northern Ireland region.
Organised by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), the Master Builder of the Year awards seek to reward high standards of restoring, converting and extending buildings, as nominated by members of the public.
John McAuley Construction are the winner of the "Professional Refurbishment" category for their refurbishment of the Twelve Apostles, a Grade II listed end of terrace cottage in Castlerock, Londonderry.
Norman Warnock of Derryadd, Lurgan was also a winner in this category, for his extension work to an existing building in Lurgan.
The New Homes category saw Mr Charleton of Ballymartin recognised for his work on a new, semi-detached house in Kilkeel for disabled and elderly residents.
Speaking about the province's success, Howard Locke, director, FMB Northern Ireland, commented: “Sometimes it seems that only the bad builders make the news, but now satisfied customers up and down the country have spoken up and voted for all the good builders out there and we are proud that building skill and dedicated craftsmanship is alive and well in Northern Ireland.”
The Regional winners go on to represent the region at the national Master Builder of the Year Awards, to be held on Thursday 18 July 2002 at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton.
The National winners in each category and their nominating customers will win a luxury three-day weekend break for two. The overall National winner – the Master Builder of the Year - will also win a luxury holiday worth £3,000 and the Master Builder of the Year trophy.
