€5m Sligo Factory Facility Opened
A €5 million facility for Amcor Flexibles has been officially opened in Sligo by the Irish Enterprise Minister.
Located at IDA Finisklin Business Park, the Australian global packaging company is aiming to hold its leadership position within its chosen markets.
Tánaiste Mary Coughlan welcomed the firms move into the new 25,000 sq ft facility at the Park, just 200 metres from the facility it previously occupied.
The Sligo operation was established in 1980 and was acquired by Amcor in 2003.
Currently the plant employs around 50 people in the manufacturing of a variety of packaging and sealing solutions for major companies in the global healthcare industry.
The Tánaiste said: "IDA Ireland has worked closely with Amcor Sligo and Amcor Corporate to secure the Sligo facility as a 'core site' for manufacturing and today’s announcement is a significant step in the successful achievement of that goal.
"I wish to congratulate the Sligo management team and workforce for their track-record of success which was a major influence in the expansion of the site and its designation as a core facility."
Ciaran Donnellan, General Manager of the Sligo operation, said: "The investment in and expansion of our Sligo operation is in line with Amcor’s global strategy.
"We have listened to our customers and responded to changing needs creating a world-class facility to service existing and future needs."
