Hanna highlights success of Mitchell Scholarships
Employment and Learning Minister, Mrs Carmel Hanna, has praised the Mitchell Scholarship Programme as a "successful and worthwhile" programme for American students in Northern Ireland.
The Minister made her comments during a special dinner hosted by Sir George Quigley, Chairman of Bombardier Aerospace/Shorts for Senator George Mitchell and Ms Trina Vargo, President of the US-Ireland Alliance.
Mrs Hanna also said that the feedback received from students involved suggested that the programme was meeting its aims of facilitating academic development as well as giving future American leaders the opportunity to develop an informed understanding of the island of Ireland.
The Mitchell Scholarships were established by the US-Ireland Alliance, a Washington based, non-partisan, non-profit making organisation, to mark the contribution made by Senator George Mitchell in shaping the future of Northern Ireland.
