Company directors disqualified over £768,000 debts

The High Court has completed proceedings against three Directors who were involved in Omagh-based civil engineering company, Castle Contracts (IRL) Limited.

On 16 May 2002 the High Court disqualified Raymond Conway from Omagh from being a company director for a period of seven years as a result of his conduct as a director of Castle Contracts (IRL) Limited. This followed the disqualification by the same court of Conor McGivern from Katesbridge and Kevin McIlduff from Omagh for four and two years respectively as a result of their conduct as directors of the same company on 15 November 2001.

Castle Contracts (IRL) Limited traded as site clearance civil engineers from January 1995 to April 1999. It was wound up by the High Court on May 1999 with a debt of £768,371.

The Court disqualified Raymond Conway and Conor McGivern over their failure to keep proper accounting records and failing to file audited accounts with the Registrar of Companies in respect of year ending December 31, 1997.

Raymond Conway was also found by the court to have failed to account satisfactorily for the company’s overall debts of £768,371.

In the case of Kevin McIlduff the Court found that he failed to address adequately the affairs of the company and allowed himself to be recorded as a director without undertaking the duties, which such a position entails.
