'High Drama' In Cliff Rescue

In the latest of a series of dramatic coastal rescues, a man who slipped and hit his head while climbing on the north Antrim coast has been airlifted to safety.

Two men were rock climbing on a cliff close to Dunseverick Castle near Dunluce Castle and the world-renowned Giant's Causeway when one slipped.

The drama took place on Tuesday evening and saw the injured man's companion climbing to the top of the cliff to raise the alarm.

The Coastguard and a Royal Navy helicopter were then involved in the rescue which saw the injured man being treated in the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine.

Earlier this month, four youngsters had to be rescued after their dinghies drifted out to sea while on a fishing expedition off the Co Down coast.

Donaghadee lifeboat and a rescue helicopter were launched to bring the boys to safety.

Also, in July, three children had to be rescued from a canoe which had drifted a mile-and-a-half out to sea off the coast of Donegal.
