Fresh Arrest Over Quinn Murder
The arrest of a man by the gardaí today is only the latest one to date in the investigation into the brutal killing of south Armagh man, Paul Quinn last year.
It has just been revealed that the 50-year-old was held shortly before 9.30am this morning in Dundalk as part of the cross-border investigation into the murder on 22nd October 2007.
The man is currently being held in Monaghan Garda Station under Sec 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
This morning's arrest brings means that the number of people who have been detained by the gardaí and the PSNI as part of this on-going investigation has now reached eleven.
So far six people have been arrested in Northern Ireland and five in the Republic.
Mr Quinn, 21, from Cullyhanna, was beaten to death in an isolated Co Monaghan shed last October after being lured to a remote farm in Co Monaghan.
There has been considerable controversy on the shocking beating - said to have involved over a dozen men with iron bars - and the body set up to monitor paramilitary ceasefires, the IMC, has previously concluded that the killing was arranged by IRA members and their associates in south Armagh.
