£1m buy-out secures 170 Mallusk jobs

Around 170 jobs appear to have been saved at Mallusk-based Leaf Technologies after a buy-out from one of its major shareholders.

The company, which went into administration last month, has been saved by Cheshire-based firm, Sense-Sonic, who manufacture a device for the hard of hearing.

The £1 million deal is also likely to secure continued manufacturing for Sense-Sonic and give it access to Leaf's other customers and contracts.

Only recently, Leaf Technologies won a £2.5 million contract to supply electronic modules to Geneva-based CERN (The European Laboratory for Particle Physics).

The contract was secured with help from Trade Partners UK, a government organisation that provides support services for UK companies trading overseas.
