Family home comes under gun and bomb attack
Police are investigating an attack on a family in County Londonderry.
The family of six were in their home in Coleraine when it came under gun and bomb attack.
Five shots were fired into the living room of their home just before midnight on Monday evening in the Quickthorn Place.
The man, his wife and their four children aged 11-18 years escaped injury but were treated for shock.
A petrol bomb was also thrown at the family car but failed to ignite.
SDLP East Londonderry assembly member John Dallat condemned the attack. He said: "Irrespective of what motivation was behind this, the sight of masked men with guns attacking families on a housing estate, particularly at this time of year, heightens tension not only in Coleraine but right across Northern Ireland."
