SDLP Fermanagh By-Election Candidate Confirmed

The SDLP has picked its runner for the hotly-contested Fermanagh Council by-election.

Veteran party member Rosemary Flanagan will stand against the DUPs Arlene Foster and Sinn Fein's Debbie Coyle.

Education advisor Ms Flanagan has been an SDLP member since the 1970s.

Also vying for the Lakeland County seat (pictured), left vacant by the late Joe Dodds, are Karen McHugh, daughter of the Independent Republican MLA Gerry McHugh, and Erne Hospital Anaesthetist Dr Kumar Kamble, who will stand as an Alliance candidate.

Basil Johnston, whose party rejected a 'co-option' from the DUP for the seat, will stand for the UUP.

The TUV is not contesting the poll.

The polling day is set for Wednesday, 17 September.
