Newtownabbey man's death is treated as suspicious

Police are treating the death of a 47-year-old man in the Newtownabbey area as suspicious.

The body of David Spence was found at his home at King's Drive, Newtownabbey at around midnight on Friday, 12 July, and a post-mortem examination revealed internal injuries.

Detective chief inspector Roy McComb said: "Mr Spence did receive some internal injuries and we are keen to find out how he received those injuries. We are not putting any label on this investigation. It is a suspicious death because there are unanswered questions."

Mr Spence was last seen leaving the Royal British Legion Club on Thursday evening, and police are trying to trace his movements since the last sighting of the dead man, who had been wearing a purple T-shirt with a horizontal stripe and jeans.

It is thought he may have walked home from the Shore Road premises of the British Legion Club via Station Road, Ypres Park and Fernagh Road.

Police have appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.
