Political Interfence In Quinn Murder Probe: SF
News that the latest man to be arrested in the North in connection with the murder of the 21-year-old Paul Quinn last October has been released has reinforced allegations of political interference.
Co Armagh Sinn Fein Councillor Brendan Curran - who is Chairman of the local District Policing Partnership - has already hit out at the series of arrests branding them "heavy-handed" and "politically motivated".
"Most of those arrested have been victims of a lengthy campaign of rumour, innuendo and finger pointing," he said.
"There has been an unparalled level of support for the investigation into Paul Quinn's murder.
"The community is convinced that these arrests are a result of this ongoing finger-pointing campaign, rather than as a result of a nine month professional police investigation, an opinion backed up by the fact that all of those arrested have been released without charge," he said, earlier this week.
Mr Curran said complaints had been lodged with the NI Police Ombudsman but he still reiterated his party's support for the Quinn family.
However, in a report in Belfast's Irish News, the 'Quinn Justice Group' Spokesman Jim McAllister has welcomed the arrests but questioned what he alleged was Sinn Fein's silence on the matter.
"Sinn Fein's silence over these arrests is deafening, given that they have been very vocal in the past to say that republicans were not involved," he said.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
