Dungannon Firm Wins Queen's Award

A Dungannon firm has received one of the highest industry accolades awarded by HM The Queen.

The honour recognises Fintec Crushing and Screening Ltd's commitment to export excellence.

The award, presented by the Queen's representative in Tyrone, the Duke of Abercorn, (pictured here - centre - with the Minister Arlene Foster and Hubert Watson, Fintec) acknowledges Fintec's outstanding achievement in international trade, achieving overall sales growth of around 300% over the past three years.

Economy Minister Arlene Foster congratulated the company as a second time winner of the prize, having achieved the award for the first time in 2006.

The Minister said: "The award winners are chosen with the assistance of industry representatives, senior government officials and the Prime Minister, so there is no stronger endorsement of a company's performance.

"The company continues to invest in research and development and staff training in order to streamline processes and enhance its product range.

"Indeed, the company has recently, with the support of Invest NI, committed almost £800,000 to help staff and management further develop quality control mechanisms and integrate new production techniques.

"Fintec is an outstanding example to other local manufacturers and I warmly congratulate all the staff on securing their second Queen's Award in three years," added Ms Foster.

Paul Colton, Operations Director at Fintec, said: "The last three years have seen us achieve a level of sales growth which is unprecedented in the history of the company.

"With support from Invest Northern Ireland during this time, we have expanded our premises and boosted our capability, creating a substantial number of new skilled jobs, and invested in identifying efficiencies which have so far saved us over £1 million in running costs.

"

The investment in staff training and development is backed by Invest NI's Business Improvement Training programme, which is part funded by the European Union European Regional Development Fund," added Mr Colton.
