Rodgers condemns attempted train hijacking

SDLP Deputy Leader and MLA for Upper Bann, Brid Rodgers has condemned the attempted hijacking of the Dublin-Belfast Enterprise train at Kilmore outside Lurgan on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 9.20am when two masked men, one of whom was carrying a gun, attempted to board the train at Kilmore.

Ms Rodgers said those who carried out this attack had nothing to offer and that the Enterprise service should be a safe for all to use. She added: "I would appeal for anyone with knowledge of this attack to contact the PSNI with information so that those responsible can be brought to justice."

Police say a window of the train had been smashed but the driver was able to complete the journey to Belfast, where he reported the incident.
