Laundered Fuel Finds In Armagh
Two separate Customs swoops in Co Armagh have netted 16,000 litres of laundered fuel.
A raid at commercial premises in Armagh city resulted in one man being bailed and instructed to appear at Armagh police station on August 6.
During the seizure five HGV cabs were taken away for further inspection.
Officials made their second find after stopping a fuel tanker in south Armagh. The tanker was carrying 10,000 litres of allegedly laundered fuel.
The raids come as fuel prices across Ireland continued to soar and, last month, the NI Security Minister announced a cross border task force aimed at tackling the illegal fuel trade.
Meanwhile, one of the world's leading chemical firms has said cars fuelled by household waste could become a reality within three years,
INEOS is currently working on producing commercial quantities of bioethanol fuel from biodegradable municipal waste.
The process burns the biodegradable waste and produces ethanol by mixing a biological catalyst with carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
The company believes is has all the resources and knowledge needed to take its work to a commercial level.

Illegal fuel plant uncovered in County Armagh
An acid fuel plant has been dismantled following an operation by the HM Revenue & Customs, with assistance by the PSNI. The mobile plant had been concealed in the back of a disused truck close to nearby houses in County Armagh on Wednesday. Pumps and storage equipment used in the illegal operation were also seized.

Six thousand litres of laundered fuel were seized together with five HGV cab units by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) officers in a joint operation with the PSNI at commercial premises in Armagh on Saturday 11 July. As part of the operation a 54 year-old man was arrested and subsequently bailed to appear at Armagh police station on 6 August.

Fuel Laundering Plant 'Decommissioned'
An illicit plant with the capacity to produce more than two million litres of fraudulent diesel a year and evade £1.3m in excise duty per annum has been uncovered by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in Co Down. The laundering unit was targeted by HMRC, accompanied by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

Crackdown on illegal fuel trade continues
A major fuel laundering plant, three filling stations and over 100 vehicles have been snared in a weeklong blitz by Customs on illegal fuel trading. The laundering plant, which was discovered in farm buildings on the outskirts of Cookstown, County Tyrone had the capacity to launder over 100,000 litres of diesel per week.

Gas Price Hike 'Fuels Winter Woes'
The gas supplier, Firmus Energy has ended its previously announced summer price freeze and is set to increase tariffs by over 35% from 1 October - fuelling fears over 'fuel poverty' among the most needy. It has around 8,500 customers in the greater Belfast area - compared to competitor, Phoenix Gas - that has more than 130,000.
