NI Livestock Commission Chair Appointed

NI Farming Minister Michelle Gildernew has announced the re-appointment of Owen Brennan as the Chairman to the Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC).

Mr Brennan has been re-appointed for an additional five months from 1 November 2008 to 31 March 2009.

Confirming the re-appointment the minister said: "Mr Brennan has a wealth of experience and I wish to thank him for all his good work as LMC chair during a difficult time for the industry."

"This short extension of his appointment will enable him to continue to contribute to the work of the LMC as it addresses the issues in the Red Meat Task Force Report. I consider that this extension is in the best interests of the livestock and livestock products industries at this time," added Ms Gildernew.
