Teenager Road Victim Named
The grim death toll on NI roads has risen again with news that an 18-year-old woman has passed away in hospital after a weekend car crash in Co Fermanagh.
She was named this morning as Shelley Sturgeon from Menapian Way in Enniskillen.
She was a front seat passenger in a collision which involved two cars which happened on the Castlederg Road near Ederney at 3pm on Sunday. A man injured in the crash is critical but stable.
Another man and woman suffered injuries, but have since been discharged from hospital.
However, despite recent road tragedies including last week's accident just across the border that left a teenage mum and child dead, it has emerged that NI statistics are actually more positive than the immediate situation appears to suggest.
The number of people killed on Northern Ireland's roads this year so far is down by 17% on the figure for the same period last year, it has been revealed.
