Belfast Markets Appeal To The Masses With New Campaign
A new advertising campaign highlighting the vast appeal of Belfast City Markets has been launched on behalf of Belfast City Council.
The campaign, which includes TV, radio, and outdoor advertising, has been designed to raise awareness of the diverse range of quality products suitable for all tastes at affordable prices within both St George's and Smithfield Markets.
As Councillor Michael Browne, Chairman of Belfast City Council's Development Committee, explained, the new campaign is a welcome boost to an integral part of city life: "St George's and Smithfield Markets represent the very heart and soul of Belfast. Encouragingly numbers attracted to both are steadily increasing and I'm confident the new advertisements will further drive footfall figures and reveal these gems to the public.
"For those who are wanting both quality and value for money, the renaissance of traditional market shopping continues at St George's on both Fridays and Saturdays, as savvy shoppers increasingly seek out the finest fresh produce.
"From the freshest local produce to the exotic, it really is shopping as it should be with food, garden and craft items all found amongst the unique lively atmosphere and colourful characters of our traders."
"Equally, Smithfield Market has so much to offer beyond the norm of the high street, with an array of bespoke products and services all waiting to be uncovered. Pigeon shows to be licensed following flu scare
Pigeon shows are to be allowed to take place in Northern Ireland under licence, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) has confirmed. The move follows a recent ban on bird fairs, markets, shows and other bird gatherings by DARD as part of Avian Influenza preventive measures legislation.

Drugs Arrest In Belfast City Centre
Police deployments operating under new security tactics have made an arrest in Belfast City Centre. Project Servator officers observed suspicious behaviour in the area on Tuesday night, 03 December and moved to search a 32 year-old male. The man was then arrested on suspicion of possession of suspected class A drugs with intent to supply.
