Poots Gets The Boot In Robinson Reshuffle

Edwin Poots has lost his post as Culture Minister in the Stormont Executive as new First Minister Peter Robinson carried out his first major reshuffle.

Gregory Campbell will replace Mr Poots, who had been involved in the controversial row over the proposed sports stadium at the site of the former Maze prison.

Sammy Wilson has also been appointed as Environment Minister, taking over from Arlene Foster, who moves to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment.

Mr Wilson's appointment could also prove controversial. Friends of the Earth's Northern Ireland Director John Woods told BBC Northern Ireland that he believed Mr Wilson's appointment was "a mistake" because he was known for his "sceptical views" on climate change.

Ms Foster's appointment means that Nigel Dodds moves to Mr Robinson's former post as Finance Minister.
