Retail conference boosted by Energia backing

The Neighbourhood Retailing Conference has been boosted by the news that electricity supply company Energia will be backing the event.

The half-day conference, which is to take place in Belfast’s Odyssey Complex on Monday September 23, has been organised by Penton Exhibitions in partnership with Invest NI.

The conference is aimed primarily at one of the most dynamic sectors of the local economy – neighbourhood, convenience and forecourt retailers and those attending will hear presentations from top speakers.

Headlining the panel will be coffee bar magnates, Bobby and Sahar Hashemi who founded the Coffee Republic chain, which is today one of the leading companies in the UK. Despite numerous rejections from banks, the brother and sister team showed their determination to succeed, opening their first outlet in Central London in 1995 and eventually making the company public.

Joining the keynote speakers will be Rikki Hunt of FuelForce, the company which recently purchased the retail network of Jet Petroleum with over 200 sites and a 2% market share.

The fourth member of the speaker panel is Mike Igoe, Business Development Manager for Jacksons Stores – the largest independent convenience multiple in the UK and current holder of the UK Convenience Store of the Year Award.

Announcing Energia’s involvement in the conference, John Mawhinney, Head of Sales and Marketing said: “Energia are delighted to be the principle sponsor of this event. We are already the supplier of choice to large energy users throughout Ireland and with the new renewable energy trading market being introduced in Northern Ireland this autumn, this conference and exhibition is providing us with the opportunity to introduce Energia’s products and services to this significant business sector.”

The conference runs in conjunction with the Neighbourhood Retailing Exhibition which takes place in the Odyssey Arena on September 22-23.
