Three men beaten in separate incidents
A teenager was abducted from his home in County Tyrone last night in what police have described as bearing the "hallmarks of a paramilitary-style attack".
The 16-year-old youth was in his home in O'Nolan Park in Strabane when a masked gang entered the house at around 11.10pm. The teenager was then forced into a car and taken across the border into Donegal. He was beaten before being released. A Garda officer found the boy at around 4am this morning and he was taken to hospital.
Elsewhere, a 49-year-old man was injured in a paramilitary-style attack in his home in Donaghadee last night. The man was in his Manor Street house with his partner and 29-year-old daughter when a masked gang forced their way in at around 10.30pm and beat him severely with baseball bats. He received a broken leg and facial injuries during the attack and was taken to the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald for treatment.
Meanwhile in Belfast, four Chinese men armed with a baseball bat entered a Chinese restaurant in the Ballysillan area at around 11.50pm last night and assaulted the owner. He received minor injuries and the restaurant was also damaged during the incident.
Three men have appeared in Craigavon Magistrates' Court on charges of riotous assembly. The men, from Lurgan, Belfast and Newtownabbey, were charged in connection with violent disturbances in Portadown at the end of July.
The three men were remanded to appear again in September.
