Stone's Cold Calculations Revealed

Convicted killer, Michael Stone - who previously served a lengthy jail sentence for his murderous one-man gun and bomb attack on a republican funeral at Milltown Cemetery - has confessed to planning further death and destruction in his stymied attack on the NI Assembly.

"I would have lobbed several nail bombs to cause confusion. I planned to stab Adams and McGuinness and cut their throats," Stone admitted, during police interview Stone.

He said the prominent republicans were "war criminals" and that he just "can't handle" republicans being in government.

Loyalist Michael Stone admission that he planned to slit the throats of Sinn Fein's Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness when he stormed the NI Assembly in November 2006, was at odds with his earlier bizarre claim when detained by security staff, that it was "performance art".

However, the prosecution told Belfast Crown Court yesterday that when arrested, Stone told police he actually planned to kill the Sinn Fein men.

Charles Adair QC said that after his arrest, Stone's intentions were made clear when he admitted: "My intention was to walk into the debating chamber and look for where Adams, McGuinness and Sinn Fein were sitting."

He was then going to use the nail bombs and the knives asa he had planned.

His trial at the court, where he denies 14 charges including attempted murder, was later adjourned for a week.
