Motorbikers Get Post Office Insurance Boost
The Post Office is aiming to put a stamp of approval on the world of motorcycle insurance.
It is about to launch a new range of bike cover, so recognising the growth in the popularity of two-wheeled transport.
Scooters and motorbikes are becoming increasingly popular as the costs of running a car continue to rise and drivers to greener forms of transport.
Motorcycle traffic has increased by an estimated 37% over the past 10 years, with 1.2 million licensed motorcyclists on the roads across the UK.
According to research from the Post Office, almost a third of people who own a motorcycle do so because it is cheaper than running a car.
The Post Office says it's planning to meet the increased demand for two-wheeled transport with its new insurance cover with added benefits, including the option to insure up to four bikes on the same policy and up to £500 cover for accessories per bike. As an introductory offer it's also offering new customers a month's free cover.
Also, the growing number of women bikers - who now make up 15% of the UK's bikers - can also benefit from special discounts as female riders can claim a discount of up to 36% extra off any other applicable offers.
