Foyle Tragedy Counterpoints Irish Rescues
While rescue services in the Irish Republic have managed to save the crew of a small fishing boat - which got into difficulty off the Kerry coast - there was a tragic outcome in Northern Ireland as a young man has drowned in the River Foyle.
The rescued boat, with two people on board, developed steering difficulties a short distance from Fenit Island and was drifting onto rocks close to the island, but was later rescued and towed to safety.
However, coastguards searching for a missing boy who was swept into the River Foyle in County Donegal have now recovered a body.
The 14-year-old was fishing near St Johnston village when he was carried out into the water on Monday evening.
A major air-and-sea rescue operation was launched, which included assistance for a time from the PSNI helicopter.
An Irish rescue helicopter from Sligo was also involved as well as boats from Greencastle Coastguard.
The Foyle Search and Rescue team also took part in the search where Finbar O'Connor, Malin Head Station Officer, said volunteer kayakers had also assisted the search effort.
The kayakers and searchers wearing drysuits examined the shore area.
Holiday Monday was one of the busiest days of the year for rescue operations for the Irish Coast Guard overall.
A 27-year-old man, who became ill while climbing Croagh Patrick in County Mayo, was airlifted to hospital in Castlebar.
The helicopter had also rescued a man who fell into the sea at Killybegs, who was taken to Sligo General Hospital.
An 11-year-old boy, who was injured in an abseiling accident near Newport in County Tipperary was also airlifted to safety then brought to hospital in Limerick.
The Coastguard said the boy appeared to have fallen about 100m into a gorge.

'High Drama' In Cliff Rescue
In the latest of a series of dramatic coastal rescues, a man who slipped and hit his head while climbing on the north Antrim coast has been airlifted to safety. Two men were rock climbing on a cliff close to Dunseverick Castle near Dunluce Castle and the world-renowned Giant's Causeway when one slipped.

Storms Stop Searches For Missing Man
Searches for a man swept out to sea at Ramore Head in Portrush on Saturday have been hampered by poor weather conditions. A search by the police and coastguard did resume on Sunday morning, but strong winds made conditions too dangerous to continuing searching. It is understood the missing man is 38-years-old and is a Polish national.

Body Of Sam Comber Recovered From River Foyle
The body of missing man Sam Comber has been recovered from the River Foyle, police have confirmed. Mr Comber, 39, was last seen at a supermarket in L'Derry on Sunday, 14 May. His bicycle was later found in a lay-by in the Newbuildings area. His body was recovered on Saturday, 20 May.

Second Man Missing In River Foyle
Search and rescue teams who are looking for a missing teenager in the River Foyle, have said they are now looking for a second man. It is understood the man went into the river on Monday morning while crews were looking for missing 18-year-old Kieran McKeon. The body of Mr McKeon's companion, Alexandra O'Brien, was found in the river last Thursday.
