Pfizer Centre To Create 100 Jobs
US pharmaceutical company Pfizer has announced 100 jobs will be created with the construction of a new research and development centre in Co Cork.
The firm - which currently employs 2,300 people - is expected to announce the multi-million euro investment later today for the new plant at Ringaskiddy in Cork.
Pfizer will develop biologics used for the treatment of cancer in the centre, which is due to start operating in 2009.
It is expected that 100 jobs will be created at the plant and another 500 people will be employed during the construction of the project. The company could also invest up to €200 million, with support of IDA Ireland in the creation of the plant.
Enterprise Minister Micheal Martin announced full details of the project.

Over 100 Jobs Created By New Owners Of Former Steel Plant
Some 120 new jobs have been created at the former Rowecord steel site in Newport with the announcement that AIC Steel Group has taken over the site. The plant on Usk Way will become the AIC's new UK manufacturing hub and is expected to produce almost 20,000 tons of structural steel a year when operational.

11 Job Losses At Doolan Plant Hire
Fianna Fáil Environment spokesperson Barry Cowen has said the first round of jobs losses arising from the creation of Irish Water in Offaly have been announced. Doolan Plant Hire has announced it is letting up to 11 staff go in Clara. Deputy Cowen commented: "This is very bad news for Clara.
